About the Role

As a Chef de Partie, you will delight your guests with Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavors and make sure their visit will become a memorable culinary experience. You will be preparing, cooking and presenting the full menu together with the Sous and Head Chef.

Your responsibilities

  • Responsible for daily production, preparation and presentation of food

  • Quality control of all food products and responsible for efficient stock rotation

  • Full knowledge of all menu items, recipes, preparation methods and presentation standards

  • Monitor portion and waste control to maintain calculated margins

  • Comply with all health and safety regulations

  • Work closely with all other team members to provide outstanding and efficient service

  • Perform other shift duties such as cleaning or relevant organizing tasks

  • Support Sous and Head Chef with training of new and existing team members


Your competencies

  • You have the relevant job experience for this position

  • You understand and know Portuguese safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures

  • You have excellent communication skills in Portuguese and English (mandatory)

  • You are comfortable working in a busy high-volume restaurant

  • You are able to multitask and prioritize when it gets busy

  • You are a team player and a natural people person

  • You pay attention to the details and are happy to take over responsibility

  • You are able to work evenings, weekends and on holidays

About the Company

Balagan Food is a Middle Eastern inspired restaurant business operating as a nomad concept since 2020 in Greater Lisbon area. The Beach House at Praia do Sul in Ericeira will be our first fixed location with two F&B outlets: a Deli & Café on the ground floor and a full-service Restaurant & Bar on the first floor open 7 days a week. We are committed to using fresh, locally sourced ingredients but once served to the table transformed into a vibrant Mediterreanean-Middle Eastern cuisine. Opening this summer season, it’s an exciting time to join Balagan and we look forward to writing this new chapter together with you!
